At CanadianFamilies.ca we present your family tree using TNG – The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding®. This requires you to export your current family tree in a specific file format called a “Gedcom” file” from whatever program you currently use. This does not affect your tree or records, it merely makes a copy that can be imported into other genealogy programs, such as we use here.
What you need to do:
- Export your family tree in a gedcom format from your current program: (to export from Family Tree Maker, see instructions here; to export from Ancestry, see instructions here; to export from MyHeritage, see instructions here;
- Once you have exported and downloaded your gedcom file to your computer, make a note of the file location. Complete the form below and select your file by clicking on the box below and navigating to the file on your computer.
