In this presentation, Ken will talk about the online resources that can be used to find your ancestors on the ground, locate their property within the Ontario Land Registry Access system (OnLand) indexes, and finally discover the instruments on FamilySearch which detail those land transactions. Examples throughout the session will highlight the various collections that cover the Niagara area of Ontario.
Ken McKinlay’s foray into his family tree research started with three simple family stories that he wanted to confirm or refute. He has now been researching his family tree for over 18 years and discoveries are still being made. He has given talks for several branches of the Ontario Ancestors, BIFHSGO, and the Ottawa Public Library. Ken’s talks generally focus on methodologies and providing the skills needed to help solve those brick wall problems.
